I’m betting that “Thor” can make as much money at the U.S. box office as the original “Iron Man.” He disagrees. In my favor, “Thor” will be the first movie of Summer 2011. It benefits from the build-up surrounding the Marvel film properties, as movies like “Iron Man 2” and “Captain America” help set the stage for “The Avengers” in 2012. Fans who don’t want to be kept out of the loop will HAVE to see “Thor.” He argues no one knows Thor, no one knows Chris Hemsworth, and the marketing materials – so far – have been vague.
That could change today. A full trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” will be posted on Yahoo Movies today at 7 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. PT. Prior to that, the studio has released an official poster online. Again, it doesn’t tell us a whole heck of a lot about Thor. But the trailer should spill more details.
Here’s the full poster:
UPDATE: And here’s the first full trailer!
“Thor” stars Hemsworth as the Norse God, Natalie Portman as the earthbound love of his life, and Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s vengeful father, Odin. It will be in theaters on May 6, 2011.
