There may be no official ceremonies in Mobile today to mark the 69th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, but at least one survivor already has his eyes on big events expected in 2011.
Ret. U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Howard Bakeman, 92, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, was stationed in Pearl Harbor when Japanese bombers attacked by air on Dec. 7, 1941.“Tomorrow is going to be a routine day,” Bakeman said Monday. “I’m not disappointed. I know what it is. I’ve got a Pearl Harbor survivor badge. I’m looking forward to next year.”
