Oprah Winfrey expands her media empire to cable with the Oprah Winfrey Network, or OWN. The network launches noon Saturday, Jan. 1, with a slate of sneak peeks into upcoming shows such as "Miracle Detectives" about a skeptic and believer who investigate possible miracles. 2. 'BLACK NATIVITY'
Karamu Theatre's venerable production of "Black Nativity" -- the Nativity story told through dance and verse -- is onstage at 3 p.m. today and 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 29-30. 3. JUSTICE OR MURDER?
If you've seen the 1972 horror film "The Last House on the Left," here's a chance to see the movie it's based on, "The Virgin Spring." This 1960 Swedish drama directed by Ingmar Bergman is set in medieval Sweden and explores how a father responds to his daughter's murder. "The Virgin Spring," part of the Cleveland Museum of Art's Holiday Film Festival, screens at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at the museum, 11150 East Blvd. Tickets $7 to $9, clemusart.com or 216-421-7350.
4. SUPERHEROES AND THE LAW

5. ANOTHER UNDEAD FRANCHISE
"I'd rather have people pining and wishing there were more 'Vampire Academy' books instead of tossing it into that 'eeew' category," author Richelle Mead says about why her young-adult series is ending with the sixth book, "Last Sacrifice" ($17.99). Will Rose, a vampire-human hybrid, finally confess her love for her mentor, Dimitri?
6. CRUISE INTO 2011
The CruiseMasters, one of the area's top rock-and-soul bands, rings out the old year with a free New Year's Eve party at Julian's, 26116 Lorain Road, North Olmsted. 7. BOOGIE WITH BETTE
It takes dazzling dancers, the Caesar Salad Girls and a really hot rendition of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" for Bette Midler to properly ring in 2011. "Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On," a 70-minute special taped at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, premieres 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, on HBO.
8. MORE ZOMBIES
Ali Larter and Boris Kodjoe help Milla Jovovich in her quest to save survivors from a zombie infection in "Resident Evil: Afterlife." The fourth installment in the popular horror-action franchise arrives on DVD ($28.95) Tuesday, Dec. 29.
9. THOSE 'WICKED' DIVAS
The witches of Broadway's "Wicked," Erin Mackey and Stephanie J. Block, lend their pipes to the Cleveland Pops Orchestra's New Year's Eve concert and dance. 10. BIG MAN IN LILLIPUT
If early reviews are right, the best part of Jack Black's movie "Gulliver's Travels" is the animated "Ice Age" short shown with it. "Scrat's Continental Crack-Up" is a teaser for "Ice Age: Continental Drift" coming next year. "Gulliver's Travels" is in theaters.
