Teresa Scanlan who is only seventeen years old managed to beat 52 other participants and was named Miss America 2011 (Not Miss USA 2011)- additionally she is the youngest woman to ever win the pageant.
Scanlan who recently graduated from Scottsbluff High School outperformed the other beauties by masterfully playing the piano at the Las Vegas event to win a $ 50,000 scholarship for a year which is part of the $ 349,000 in gifts that the Miss America Organization awards nationwide.
The accomplished pianist now takes on the heavy role of being an idol for young girls in the United States for one year.
Overall it was a pretty interesting show hosted by Brooke Burke and Chris Harrison where over 40 former Miss Americas returned to talk about their own experiences as queens and their passion for shoes.
The current Miss America Caressa Cameron looking stunning in a gorgeous red gown made an appearance to crown the new winner at the end of the two-hour competition (which included the usual swimsuit, evening gown and talent portions) which aired on ABC.
