Leslie Nielsen's Last Movie -- In Limbo

11/30/2010 12:30 AM PST by TMZ Staff

Leslie Nielsen's last movie -- a small budget animated film -- may never see the light of day ... because after Leslie voiced his part ... producers couldn't afford to pay for the final animation.

Nielsen finished his voice work over a year ago, according to the director of the movie, Bryan Waterman. He tells TMZ that a "great deal" of production still has to be done before the movie can be released -- and by a "great deal" he means the majority of the animation.

(NewsCore) - Comedy legend Leslie Nielsen's last ever movie may never be released -- because of financial constraints, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Nielsen, who was cast as the voice of Ready Espanosa in the animated comedy "The Waterman Movie," finished his voice work over a year ago. But, according to the website, the movie's producers were unable to pay for the final animation.
Its director, Bryan Waterman, told the celebrity site a "great deal" of production was still needed before the movie could be released, adding he was still searching for investors.

Nielsen, star of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, died Sunday of pneumonia in a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 84 years old.

MIAMI FIRES COACH RANDY SHANNON AFTER 4 YEARS - NBC Sports

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Miami fired coach Randy Shannon on Saturday night, hours after the Hurricanes finished a 7-5 regular season that began with championship expectations.

Athletic director Kirby Hocutt made the call.

"We have made a decision to seek new leadership for our football program," Hocutt said in a release. "Our expectations are to compete for championships and return to the top of the college football world."

Shannon received a four-year extension just before the start of the 2010 season. He was 28-22 in four seasons at Miami.

The fate of all members of Shannon's staff has not been determined. Some will remain for Miami's bowl game, but one assistant coach told The Associated Press that "everybody, all the coaches, weight room, the training room guys, secretaries, we all think we're gone." The coach spoke on condition of anonymity because he had not been told about his own job.

Shannon had considered firing both offensive coordinator Mark Whipple and defensive coordinator John Lovett in recent days, along with some — but not all — of his other assistants.

Hocutt was scheduled to meet with reporters at 1 p.m. Sunday, and players were told a team meeting would be held beforehand.

Hocutt made the decision shortly after Miami lost to South Florida 23-20 in overtime on Saturday afternoon, in a game where only about 27,000 people filled the 73,000 seats at Sun Life Stadium. A plane circled the stadium before kickoff calling for a coaching change, and players left fearing that it would be the last time they played for Shannon.

Miami Fires Randy Shannon, Who Do They Get to Replace Him? - The Big Lead

November 28th. 2010, 12:06am

Randy Shannon’s talents are no longer required in South Beach. Miami has fired its head coach after a 23-20 overtime loss at home to South Florida dropped the team to 7-5.  He didn’t even survive the evening.  The 27,000 fans who showed up to the 73,000-seat venue to witness the spectacle said all that was needed.

The Hurricane’s top caliber opposition – Ohio State, Florida State and Virginia Tech – beat them soundly, but the true culprits were the losses to Virginia and South Florida. If Miami finishes 9-3, Randy Shannon probably gets another season.

The Funny Girl Fanny Bryce - All About News

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Fanny Bryce is one of the most influential women of her era. She is one American woman that started her career and made all the way to famous Broadway. She was known for her talented act as a film star as well a comedian. Her worked was thought to be one of the best as she was not also the creator but also the star of the top-rated radio comedy series, The Baby Snooks Show.
Her life as well as her success story has inspired many others far beyond her time. And after thirteen years since her death, at exactly the year of 1968, her life was portrayed on the film which called Funny Girl.

The film managed to score a big success not only for the movie itself, but also for the casts that starred the movie. The film was directed by William Wyler based on the screenplay that was made by Isobel Lennart from her book for the same musical stage production. The film itself was produced by Brice’s son-in-law, Ray Stark, not Tony Stark apparently.

In 2006, the American Film Institute ranked the film #16 on its list commemorating 100 Years of Musicals. There are lots of song that are memorable that comes from this movie. The songs “People” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade” at #13 and #46, respectively, in its 2004 list of 100 Years … 100 Songs. And also the line “Hello, gorgeous” has gained its place at #81 in its 2005 list of 100 Years … 100 Movie Quotes, while Barbara Streisand, the actress that plays Fanny Brice made the famous stepping stone of her career by winning the Academy Award for Best Actress.

‘Young Justice’ Premiere Review: Cool Concept, And A Super-ior Cartoon – Entertainment Weekly

Young Justice made its debut on Friday night with an hour-long edition on the Cartoon Network. It was a clever concept that was pretty well-executed: above-average animation; intriguingly different takes on a few familiar characters; and the promise of even better editions to come.

The debut centered around Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Superboy. (I liked the way Speedy quit early on, disgusted at the lack of respect he was being shown by Green Arrow and other adult super-heroes — it was an unexpected move for a new series to use.) The plot concerned the Cadmus Project, busy manufacturing naughty genomes and using stolen Superman-DNA to hatch Superboy.

I was less engaged by the long battles between the Young Justice crew and the hulking, bashing Blockbuster creatures than I was by the introduction of, and interaction between, the teen heroes. Young Justice is not a TV version of the DC Comics series of the same title. It takes place, its producers say, on Earth-16, a separate entity from the comics continuity. If you’re looking for comic-book parallels, the show is more a cross between Teen Titans and Young Justice… with its own little twists.

By the end of the hour, other members had been introduced, including Miss Martian, niece of Martian Manhunter — with more to come. There was some snappy dialogue between the youthful crew (“Don’t call us sidekicks” is practically the show’s motto) and the Justice League, with Batman and other grown-ups grudgingly accepting the inevitability of this group of adolescent upstarts. Young Justice will be used, we were told, as a sort of covert-ops organization to handle assignments and super-villain intrusions, with Red Tornado as the kids’ supervisor and Black Canary in charge of “training” (hormones, man your battle-stations!).

All in all: fun and smart.

Young Justice Animated Series Review: The Best Show DC Has Ever Produced

Young Justice Animated Series premiered tonight on Cartoon Network and all I can say is WOW!, this is what I have been waiting for from DC. The episode titled “Independence Day” was a delightful blend of comedy and sarcasm. DC was above par on the animation here and never cut any corners. The characters were crisp and clean and there were a lot of them. There were over 24 Justice League members here along with some new younger heroes and villains. The animation in this debut was exceptional to say the least. Young Justice has everything including sidekicks who want to go out on their own and don’t follow the rules. I think I will have to add Cartoon Network onto my list of networks to look at more closely if Young Justice is a representation of what they offer. Most pilots get bogged down in setting up the following episodes of the series but Young Justice Independence Day sets up the series and keep you engaged with action packed adventure. Young Justice Animated Series “Independence Day” is a home run in my book and I look forward to watching the show each week.
